Overview

MSA has an opportunity for a Transportation Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027 in our Madison, WI office. This position will offer students hands-on project exposure to a variety of transportation projects across the state, and there may be an opportunity for field work depending on specific project needs and locations. The various projects you'll be working on make a significant and positive impact on the communities you serve.

 

MSA internships are typically at least 12 weeks in duration, ranging from mid-May 2027 to mid-August 2027, with start/exit dates confirmed later in the hiring process. For engineering students seeking consulting experience with building projects, this is the position for you!   Additionally, an internship at MSA provides you with a collaborative environment across the firm among the 40 interns each summer.

Responsibilities

Office Work/Design

  • CAD Work on highway improvement plans
  • Compile documentation consistent with current DOT standards
  • Project plan, quantities & specifications development
  • Assist in survey or field inspection/staking operations or related duties

Qualifications

Education

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or related) in Civil Engineering is preferred
  •  

Experience

  • A valid driver’s license required
  • Prior experience in the transportation field preferred
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel required
  • A desire to learn more about transportation engineering projects in a consulting industry
  • This position requires you to have authorization to work in the United States for any employer. We will not provide sponsorship for this position.
