MSA Professional Services, Inc. (MSA) is seeking an Engineering Technician II to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. This position supports engineers, designers, and project managers through a Revit drafting and other project-related activities.

Responsibilities

Design & CAD Production

  • Perform drafting and design assignments using Revit and other computer-aided design software to translate concepts, notes, sketches, and instructions into engineering drawings.
  • Assist with development of project plans, base mapping, design deliverables, and other project documentation.
  • Gather and organize project information, perform data reduction, create CAD maps, and assist with utility coordination.
  • Perform calculations related to assigned technical tasks.
  • Assist with quality control of drafting and technical deliverables by reviewing work for completeness, continuity, accuracy, and adherence to company and discipline standards.

Project Coordination & Communication

  • Work on project tasks of varying scope and complexity under the direction of a Project Engineer, Project Manager, or supervisor.
  • Communicate project status, questions, concerns, and technical information with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and other members of the project team.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, utilities, and industry representatives as needed to coordinate project information and obtain necessary data.
  • Participate in client meetings and public interaction activities as assigned.
  • Manage assigned work within established project schedules and budgets.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and perform quality assurance activities on individual work and, as appropriate, the work of others.

Team & Technical Support

  • Serve as a technical resource to others in the use of MSA's computer-aided design software.
  • Provide guidance to other Engineering Technicians within the project team.
  • Participate in training and mentoring others within the Technician job family.
  • May assign specific tasks to others and monitor progress.
  • Support other service lines with deliverable production or construction services as project needs require.
  • Participate in service line or company-wide process improvements, software evaluations, and similar initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required.
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Architectural Engineering Technology, or a related specialty preferred.
  • Four years of relevant work experience with a high school diploma, or two years of relevant experience with an associate degree.
  • Experience with, or willingness to be trained in Revit.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Developing knowledge of engineering technician practices, infrastructure, and survey/design processes.
  • Working knowledge of computer-aided design software such as Revit.  
  • Understanding of fundamental design and surveying principles, property research, fieldwork techniques, construction layout methods, and field safety practices.
  • Ability to read plans, perform measurements, and collect field data.
  • Ability to independently complete assigned work while collaborating with project teams.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Additional Benefits

  • Compensation Range: $61,000 –$98,000 (commensurate with experience)
