MSA is seeking a Project Engineer – Transportation in Madison, WI to focus on traffic and roundabout planning, design, and engineering services. You’ll lead projects from traffic studies to roadway and intersection design, with WisDOT experience highly valued as you deliver safe, efficient solutions for communities across Wisconsin.

What you will do:
Manage projects including planning, scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and QA/QC
Design transportation infrastructure with a strong emphasis on traffic operations, intersection improvements, and roundabout design
Prepare detailed plans, specifications, bidding documents, and technical reports
Develop and coordinate regulatory permit applications
Build and maintain client relationships through meetings, collaboration, and responsive communication
Lead and review proposals with support from MSA team members
Mentor and support junior staff in their professional development
Participate in public engagement, including preparing presentation displays and representing projects at public meetings
Provide construction management and inspection support as needed
What you bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required)
Minimum of 4 years of traffic/transportation engineering experience with a focus on traffic operations, intersection design, and/or roundabout planning and design (required)
Professional Engineer (PE) license (WI PE preferred)
WisDOT project experience, particularly in traffic studies, safety analyses, and roadway design (preferred)
Experience with Civil 3D design software (desired)
Previous client liaison and project management experience or a strong desire to step into that role (required)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to clients, stakeholders, and the public
Desire to work in a consulting environment and contribute to collaborative, client-focused solutions
Why MSA?
The salary for this position ranges from $88,871 to $142,194 per year commensurate with experience. Higher compensation within this range will be paid to candidates with significant experience and exceptional qualifications.
