About the Opportunity
At MSA, we believe the best learning happens through teamwork, mentorship, and hands-on experience. We are looking for an Transportation Engineering Intern who is excited to learn, contribute, and grow in a supportive environment. This role is onsite at our Madison WI office.
MSA internships are typically at least 12 weeks in duration, ranging from mid-May 2026 to mid-August 2026, with start/exit dates confirmed later in the hiring process. For engineering students seeking consulting experience with building projects, this is the position for you! Additionally, an internship at MSA provides you with a collaborative environment across the firm among the 40 interns each summer.

What you will do:
Perform design work on highway improvement plans.
Compile project documentation consistent with current DOT standards.
Assist with the development of project plans, quantities, and specifications.
Support survey, field inspection, or staking operations as needed.
Contribute to office-based design and project coordination tasks.
What you bring:
Current student pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Interest in transportation engineering and infrastructure development.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; exposure to CAD, MicroStation, Civil3D or other engineering software a plus.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Why MSA?
The salary for this position ranges from $21 to $25 per year commensurate with experience. Higher compensation within this range will be paid to candidates with significant experience and exceptional qualifications.
