Overview

MSA has an opportunity for an Agricultural Engineering Intern! This position will offer students exposure to agriculture consulting work (this includes, but is not limited to: client interaction, use of NRCS standards and specifications, preliminary and final design of various types of projects, various types of calculations and design parameters used in sizing and designing, development of NRCS Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans (CNMP), and construction observation). The various projects you'll be working on make a significant and positive impact on the communities you serve. 

 

MSA internships are typically at least 12 weeks in duration, ranging from mid-May 2026 to mid-August 2026, with start/exit dates confirmed later in the hiring process. For engineering students seeking consulting experience with agricultural projects, this is the position for you! Across the firm, MSA typically hires around 40 interns each summer.

Responsibilities

The work you may do

  • Assist with CNMP work
  • Assist with project plan development
  • Draft preliminary reporting for designs
  • Assist and compile as-built documentation for previously constructed projects
  • Utilizing GIS, AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Revit platforms
  • Provide assistance with company initiatives that may involve different service lines
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

What you bring
Skills & Knowledge / Education & Experience:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (or related) in Biological Systems Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Civil, Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering, or related degree required
  • Previous civil engineering intern or co-op experience preferred
  • Prior construction inspection experience preferred
  • This position requires you to have authorization to work in the United States for any employer. We will not provide sponsorship for this position

Benefits

The pay range for this position ranges from $20 to $25 per hour commensurate with experience. Higher compensation within this range will be paid to candidates with significant experience and exceptional qualifications.
