Overview

MSA has an opportunity for an experienced Transportation and Land Use Planner at our St. Paul, MN office. You will have the opportunity to lead and contribute to projects from start to finish. The various projects you'll be working on make a significant and positive impact on the communities you serve.

Responsibilities

The work you will do

  • Collect, analyze and summarize data from various sources
  • Write and produce plan documents
  • Design and lead public engagement strategies
  • Serve as project manager and principal planner
  • Identify and evaluate potential community planning clients and projects
  • Develop and maintain relationships with staff and elected officials in target communities
  • Write and edit community planning project scopes and proposals
  • Participate in MSA’s Planning “Community of Practice”
  • Occasional travel within the Midwest, rarely requiring an overnight stay

Qualifications

What you bring
Skills & Knowledge / Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Urban Planning or related degree required
  • AICP certification required
  • 10+ years of related transportation and land use planning experience required
  • Expertise in several of the following areas required: project management, client management, high quality plan document design, public engagement, strategic planning, comprehensive planning, development review, and funding administration, economic development, bike/pedestrian planning.
  • Familiarity with MS Office required and Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Experience with ArcGIS and 3D graphics tools desirable
  • Experience in proposal writing and project/client development required
  • Strong writing and public speaking skills required
